Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India registers Web Journalists Standard Authority.

Patna | The Web Journalist Standard Authority has been registered by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India under the Intermediate Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code 2021. The ministry has officially informed the Web Journalists Association of India through e-mail. Information to this effect was given by the National Secretary cum National Spokesperson of the organization Nikhil K D Verma.

The Web Journalists Standards Authority (WJSA) is a part of the Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) which is registered with the Government of Bihar. The web journalist shall act as per Rule-12 of the Standard Authority (WJSA) Information Technology (lntermedary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The Web Journalists Standard Authority (WJSA), which is a part of the Web Journalists Association of India, has a President and 6 members. It is headed by Hon’ble Justice Ghanshyam Prasad, former Judge, Patna High Court while the members include Shri Daya Shankar Pandey, IAS (Retd); Shri Ramesh Chandra Sinha, DGP (Retd); Shri Rohan Priyam Sahai, Advocate, Patna High Court; Mr. Rana Yashwant Singh, Senior Journalist/Socio Cultural Activist/Educationist; Shri Anand Kaushal, National President, Web Journalists Association of India; and Dr. Amit Ranjan, National General Secretary, Web Journalists Association of India.

National Spokesperson Nikhil K D Verma informed that as per the email received from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, WJSA will address the complaints related to its member publishers/publishers under the by-laws (4) of Code of Ethics and (5) shall act in accordance with the provisions laid down in. WJSA shall also ensure that its member publishers/publishers have agreed to comply with the provisions of the Rules, including furnishing the information required under Rule 18 of the Rules.
